Re: AJB/Surespan Private Lands in the Chapman Creek Drinking Watershed
Thank you for your time today.
As you know, ELF maintained a 24/7 roadblock for almost 3 months this past winter preventing AJB/Surespan from further logging in the Chapman Creek Drinking Watershed in the hopes that it would buy time for the SCRD to inform AJB of an intent to purchase their private lands.

Proposed, Motion:
The SCRD to inform Mark Rogers of AJB/Surespan of the intent by the SCRD to purchase the private Chapman Creek Watershed lands through a referendum process. Inform Rogers that the timeline to complete the referendum to be no later than December 31, 2016. In the meantime, the SCRD requests of AJB that no further logging to take place at the current site. The SCRD immediately seeks the cooperation of AJB to install chain link fencing gates where the private lands intersect with FSR roads to stop unauthorized vehicle access. This should be done in the next 30-60 days before the High Fire rating season begins. Eight foot high chain link fencing to extend 100M (328ft) on either side of the gates to prevent attempted trespass.
Once this Motion is passed, then it will be vented by the ‘SCRD-SIB Joint Watershed Management Agreement Committee’.
Thank you for discussing and considering this Motion.
