Shishalh Elders File Trespass Notice on Sunshine Coast Community Forest and Logging Contractors

Shishalh Elders File Trespass Notice on Sunshine Coast Community Forest and Logging Contractors
At Sechelt, BC on November 28, 2012, shíshálh Elders Xwu’p’a’lich and Mus-swiya File Notice of Trespass against SCCF (Sunshine Coast Community Forest) with the RCMP on the Sunshine Coast. This filing puts SCCF and their contractors, John Phare Contracting and others on notice that they will be held responsible for all damages on shíshálh lands.

Additionally, a document has been filed with the BC Attorney Generals Office in Victoria as to the validity of a justice (judicial administrator) in Vernon making legal determination on Indian Lands outside of his jurisdiction. Another error noted in the legal determinations made is that this Justice Cole refused to address the affidavit of title, deed or bill of sale to these Indian lands. That would allow the province to enforce their laws on unceded Indian Land ie. presumed Crown Land.
